Xfinity is a fantastic tool that is hugely popular all over the world. But it isn’t without its flaws.
While it’s brilliant for finding WiFi hotspots and streaming the latest on-demand drama or tuning into almost any channel you wish, there are a number of hacks to get around things too.
Whether you’re looking to log in to a WiFi hotspot for free or looking to open up your catalog of content abroad, we take a look at a few of the best hacks for Xfinity…
Bypass Xfinity geoblocks worldwide
Geoblocks are a pain for accessing almost any on-demand or streaming service while abroad and Xfinity is no different.
Due to the licensing of shows around the world, geoblocking can prevent you from watching your favorite shows even if you’re account is from the US.
A VPN can help solve this problem. There are dozens on the market, with ProtonVPN often referred to online as the best VPN for Xfinity. What this allows you to do is bypass any geoblocking by giving you the opportunity to connect to a different server in another country.
So for example, let’s say you wanted to use Xfinity in the UAE while away on business, but geoblocks were preventing you from accessing the content you wished. You could connect to a server in the USA with a VPN and dupe the network into thinking you were browsing from the United States. This would then open up all the content you wished.
Stop Comcast Using Your Router As An Xfinity HotSpot
A big part of Xfinity is its public hotspots right across the country. However, the way that is done is by using customers’ routers.
Comcast does ensure that your router and the connection remain completely separate entities, but if you’re a little unsettled by the fact Xfinity does this, there is a way to stop it happening.
It’s a relatively simple process that involves logging into your Xfinity personal account.
Once you’re logged in, head over to the Users & Preferences section, where you’ll be delivered a number of options.
To disable Xfinity’s ability to use your router, you need to access the Service Address section and click Manage Xfinity WiFi. From there all you need to do is click Disable Xfinity WiFi Home Hotspot and you’re good to go.
Bypass Username & Password To Use Xfinity WiFi
Alternatively, there are ways in which you can access Xfinity’s WiFi for free, all you Need is a Username and Password.
It’s a little more complex than disabling your hotspot but can be done by taking the following steps…
- Download the Xfinity WiFi app before heading to the following URL: https://idm.xfinity.com/myaccount/lookup?execution=e1s1
- Click on the option that reads Forgot Username or Password
- Select whatever option necessary from the likes of a phone number, serial number etc.
- Enter the valid information it asks
- Click submit and access your Username and Password
You should then be able to log in and access Xfinity WiFi without the need to pay to be able to connect to hotspots.
